The ministerial committee appointed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit held an extensive meeting in the Spanish capital, Madrid, with the presence of the Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and several senior European officials and the Madrid Group, to discuss the latest developments in Gaza and the West Bank.
The committee members emphasized during the meeting the importance of implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international resolutions, based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem, considering it the only way to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region.
The committee also condemned the repeated violations committed by the Israeli occupation against civilians in Gaza, stressing the need to address these transgressions and their violation of international humanitarian law.
They emphasized the importance of international cooperation to support early recovery efforts and the reconstruction of Gaza according to the approved Arab plan.
The participants reiterated their support for Qatari, Egyptian, and American mediation efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire, releasing hostages and prisoners, calling for the immediate opening of all crossings in Gaza without conditions to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian and medical aid to the needy population.
The meeting also discussed the ongoing preparations for a high-level international conference for a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue, scheduled to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York in June, jointly chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. The ministerial committee emphasized the importance of providing clear political, security, and economic commitments to ensure the success of this conference.
The committee praised the reforms initiated by the Palestinian government, reaffirming its support for anything that enhances the interests and aspirations of the Palestinian people and ensures their security and stability.
This meeting comes amid escalating humanitarian and political conditions in Gaza, with participating countries emphasizing the need to reach a just and comprehensive solution that restores peace and stability to the region.
