Hemeti pledges to 'liberate' Sudanese from the Brotherhood and calls for an international investigation into violations

The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemeti), pledged to work on 'liberating the Sudanese people from the Brotherhood organization', holding the organization responsible for the continuation of the war that has plagued the country since April 2023.
In a televised speech delivered on Tuesday evening, Hemeti called for the formation of an international committee to investigate the violations accompanying the conflict, considering that what is happening is an extension of old political conflicts that Sudanese forces have failed to resolve.
Hemeti stated that 'elements of the former regime chose the path of war and bloodshed, and they must bear the consequences of their actions', adding that 'those who are fighting today under the banner of the army are in fact the Brotherhood', referring to what he described as the 'control of the organization' over the military institution.
Hemeti addressed the army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, accusing him of attempting to 'deceive the international community' about the nature of his relationship with the Brotherhood, adding: 'There is no longer an army in Sudan, but militias fighting in the name of religion, and Islam is innocent of them all'.
In discussing the field developments, Hemeti described the drone attack in Kordofan, which resulted in the death of the leader of the Al-Majaneen tribe and 17 tribal leaders, as a 'grave mistake', affirming that the army 'will pay the price for it'.
He pointed out that recent days have witnessed a series of aerial attacks on sites in Damazin, Sennar, Kassala, and White Nile, amid reports of hundreds of casualties in a recruitment camp in the city of Sennar, without any official confirmation so far.
Hemeti threatened that any airport from which a plane takes off or a drone is launched targeting civilians in Darfur or Kordofan will be a 'legitimate target' for his forces, indicating that this also includes any airport in a neighboring country participating in those operations.
He also described the targeting of community leaders and social symbols as an 'attempt to exterminate tribes and erase their legacy', threatening a strong response to those attacks, while affirming the commitment of the Rapid Support Forces not to target civilians in areas under the control of the army.
