Google launches the largest artificial intelligence center in South India with an investment of 15 billion dollars

In a major step to enhance its global presence in advanced technology, "Google" announced a massive investment of 15 billion dollars to create new capabilities for data centers in South India, as part of its new project "Artificial Intelligence Center".
The CEO of "Google Cloud", Thomas Kurian, confirmed during an event held on Tuesday that "this investment will extend over the next five years, making it the largest artificial intelligence center for the company outside the United States".
This announcement came just one day after the Minister of Human Resource Development in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Lokesh, revealed a one gigawatt energy project estimated to cost around 10 billion dollars. Lokesh indicated in a post on the "X" platform that the agreement came after "a year of intensive discussions and ongoing efforts", emphasizing that the project "is just the beginning".
According to the Indian newspaper Economic Times, the investment will be implemented through "Raiden Infotech", a subsidiary of "Google" in India, which intends to establish three complexes in the city of Visakhapatnam. Other reports from the same newspaper indicated that local authorities plan to continue supporting these projects and significantly increase the state's computing capabilities over the next three years.
This move comes as global companies accelerate their investments in infrastructure to meet the growing global demand for cloud computing services, driven by the increasing reliance on artificial intelligence applications.
It is worth noting that "Google" had raised its capital expenditure forecasts for 2025 to 85 billion dollars in its second-quarter results in July, up from 75 billion in February, due to "strong and growing demand for Google Cloud products and services".
In the same month, the company also announced plans to invest 25 billion dollars in data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure over the next two years in several U.S. states as part of the largest electricity network in the country.
With this investment, India joins the list of countries attracting the attention of major global companies like "Microsoft" and "Amazon Web Services", as it seeks to enhance its position as a major regional hub in cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
