Google Launches AI-Powered Editing Feature in "Google Photos" for Android Users

In a remarkable development, Google has made the AI-supported editing feature available in the "Google Photos" app for all eligible Android phone users, after it was previously exclusive to Pixel phones. This move opens the door for users to make professional edits to their photos with ease.

The new feature relies on simple text or voice commands, allowing users to request specific edits such as "make the sky more dramatic" or "lighten the shadows on the face," with the AI executing them automatically. In this way, users can perform advanced photo editing without needing technical expertise.

This feature is powered by Google's AI model "Gemini" capable of understanding the context of images and making adjustments that appear natural. Google has confirmed that "to achieve the best results, it is recommended to use clear and specific commands," with the importance of using well-lit images.

The available edits through the new feature range from basic adjustments of lighting and contrast to enhancing facial details and removing unwanted elements, in addition to adding creative effects like changing the mood of the image.

It is worth noting that the feature may not work perfectly with low-quality images, and image processing is done on Google's servers, which raises privacy considerations. This step represents part of Google's ongoing efforts to integrate AI into everyday applications.
