Ghotfan Ghanoum Appointed Dean of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus

The Syrian artist Ghotfan Ghanoum, known for his role in the series "Smile, O General," has been appointed as the Dean of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, according to what the Al-Thawra newspaper announced today, Thursday.
The newspaper clarified that the appointment came in recognition of Ghanoum's artistic contributions and his supportive stance towards the Syrian people since the revolution began, while social media users reacted positively to the decision, describing the artist as a "free and revolutionary" figure deserving of the position.
Ghanoum was born in 1976 in the Baba Amr neighborhood of Homs, and graduated in 2006 from the State Art Academy in Moldova with a degree in film directing. He is a member of the unions of filmmakers and journalists in Finland.
Ghanoum is known for his active participation in the Syrian revolution, having directed a documentary titled "Portrait of a Revolutionary City" about the city of Qusayr, before moving to Finland in 2014. He has also participated in several cinematic, theatrical, and television works, including "Moon on Skype," "Boarding," and "The Birth from the Core," alongside his most famous role in "Smile, O General."
