Germany accuses 'Deep See' of disclosing user data to China

Bloomberg news agency reported that the data protection authority in Germany warned Apple and Google's Android operating system that the Chinese artificial intelligence service 'Deep See,' available on their respective app stores, amounts to illegal content as it discloses user data to Chinese authorities.
Berlin's data protection commissioner, Maja Kamp, said in a statement on Friday that the official notification came after 'Deep See' ignored a request in May to withdraw its app from the app store in Germany or provide guarantees when collecting and transferring data of local users to China.
Kamp said, 'Chinese authorities have broad rights to access personal data. Deep See users do not have enforceable rights and effective legal remedies available in China, such as those in the European Union.'
