Four Israeli soldiers were killed yesterday, Friday, in Gaza Strip after a booby-trapped building collapsed in the Khan Yunis area in the southern part of the sector. Additionally, 11 other soldiers were injured, some critically. Sources mentioned a failed attempt to abduct one of the injured soldiers during the clashes, as Israeli forces continued to advance in the southern areas of Khan Yunis amidst heavy tank fire. Israeli forces also provided heavy air cover, targeting anyone attempting to move in the infiltration areas, while Israeli tanks advanced in the Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City amid continuous artillery shelling. Gaza is witnessing a worsening humanitarian crisis due to the scarcity of aid entering the besieged sector, amidst Israeli commitments to expand its military operations. On the other hand, a recent Israeli report revealed a deterioration in the readiness of the Israeli army due to the ongoing war, with months of fighting leading to significant depletion in military equipment and gear, according to the Israeli newspaper "Maariv." The newspaper explained that the forces are facing a severe shortage of spare parts for tanks and armored personnel carriers of the "Namer" model, with increasing malfunctions in tank engines, drive systems, and movement chains. Soldiers and brigade leaders complained about the deteriorating technical condition of the equipment amid the ongoing military operations that have drained the army's material capabilities. In a previous incident, a technical malfunction in an armored personnel carrier belonging to the Givati Brigade led to a fire outbreak in the Jabalia neighborhood, resulting in the death of 3 soldiers and the serious injury of two others after the fire truck that arrived at the scene fell into an ambush of explosive devices set by Hamas. The region has been experiencing escalating military tension since the collapse of a fragile ceasefire that lasted for two months between Israel and Hamas on March 18th, with Israeli forces intensifying their military operations in the sector since May 17th, reaffirming their determination to free the captured Israeli hostages, gain full control over Gaza, and eliminate Hamas. Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is rapidly worsening due to the ongoing blockade and the scarcity of aid.
