Explosion Targets Security Personnel in Damascus, Authorities Launch Urgent Investigation

A bomb exploded today, Wednesday, September 3, in a car at the entrance of the Mezzeh 86 neighborhood in the Syrian capital, Damascus, where the sound of the explosion was heard throughout the city.
The Syrian official news agency (SANA) reported that the explosion targeted a member of the internal security forces, according to what was confirmed by the head of internal security in Damascus, Brigadier General Osama Muhammad Khair Ataka, who explained: "The explosion that occurred in the Mezzeh 86 area was caused by a bomb targeting a member of the internal security forces."
Brigadier General Ataka added in his statement: "Our units responded immediately, as the site was cordoned off and secured completely, without any human losses recorded."
For its part, the relevant authorities have initiated an urgent investigation to determine the party responsible for this terrorist act.
