Egyptian security forces have arrested a propagator of false news related to the involvement of a high-ranking judicial official and eight officers in the drug case involving the journalist Sara Khalifa, as part of the Public Prosecution's commitment to maintaining public security and order.
The Public Prosecution stated in an official statement that orders have been issued to track all accounts and websites that reposted these fabricated news and to take strict legal actions against those responsible.
The identity of one of the individuals responsible for spreading these rumors on social media has been identified, apprehended, and upon confrontation, confessed to the act.
The prosecution has ordered the suspect to be detained for four days pending further investigations, while continuing to monitor and apprehend any other individuals involved in spreading the rumors.
This comes in light of an official judicial source denying the rumors about the arrest of any judicial official or police officers in the case, clarifying that the resignation of a member of the prosecution was voluntary for personal reasons unrelated to the case, and that the allegations of violating the freedoms of any officers are false.
The Egyptian Prosecution revealed that investigations have uncovered a criminal gang consisting of 7 individuals involved in trafficking and manufacturing drugs, with 4 of them apprehended and 3 others being pursued.
They were found in possession of large quantities of synthetic cannabis, as well as money and assets used in their criminal activities.
The prosecution explained that the presenter Sara Khalifa, who only completed her primary education, was involved in drug trafficking alongside others, contributing to the import, manufacturing, and sale of drugs in Egypt.
