Egyptian belly dancer Dina sparks controversy with her statements about Syria.

Egyptian belly dancer and actress Dina sparked wide controversy on social media platforms after her appearance in a TV interview on the Lebanese channel "Al Jadeed" on Wednesday, April 2nd, where she expressed controversial opinions about Syria, Sednaya prison, and the current Syrian President Ahmed Al Shar'a.
During the interview, Dina questioned the credibility of the footage released about Sednaya prison after the fall of the former President Bashar Al-Assad's regime, stating that it "could be real or fabricated using artificial intelligence," pointing out that modern technology could play a role in distorting facts. She also commented on politics as "containing loopholes that make it difficult to distinguish between what is real and what is fake."
Dina also touched on her close relationship with the Assad family, revealing her friendship with the late Bassel Al-Assad, the brother of the former President Bashar Al-Assad, since the 1990s, mentioning that she used to dance at parties in Damascus in his presence and play "table games" with him.
She noted that artists often view things emotionally, unlike politicians who view things rationally, pointing out that Bashar Al-Assad's regime has its "positives and negatives, known more to Syrians than others."
The Egyptian artist did not hesitate to express her admiration for the current Syrian President Ahmed Al Shar'a, describing him as having a "wonderful charisma and genuine speech," considering him "suitable for the current transitional phase," but she believed that "it is too early to judge the success or failure of the Syrian revolution."
She concluded her discussion about Syria by mentioning that she does not mind visiting it currently, expressing optimism about the upcoming phase.
