In a tragic incident that shook the Egyptian community, the Egyptian Public Prosecution revealed yesterday, Saturday, the shocking reason for the death of a father and his six children in the southern province of Minya, confirming that the deaths resulted from poisoning by a substance found in an insecticide.
The prosecution explained that forensic reports confirmed the presence of toxic substances in samples taken from the deceased children, which are used in the manufacturing of pesticides, explaining the severe symptoms they exhibited, including severe vomiting, high fever, neurological convulsions, and loss of consciousness, before they were pronounced dead successively at the hospital.
The city of Deir Mawas in the south of Minya province had witnessed a humanitarian tragedy in the past few days after the death of six children from the same family, followed by the death of their father later with the same symptoms, raising wide questions about the circumstances of the incident.
The Public Prosecution confirmed that it has ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to quickly conduct investigations into the incident, listened to testimonies from some of the victims' relatives, and conducted a detailed examination of the family's house where the tragedy occurred, in an attempt to identify the source of the toxic substance.
As part of the investigation, the bodies of the victims were autopsied, and tissue and blood samples were taken for analysis in the central and technical laboratories affiliated with the Forensic Medicine Authority, which confirmed the presence of a toxic substance in the insecticides.
It is worth noting that the deceased father, named Nasser Mohamed, passed away on Friday after days of the death of his other daughter, Farah, who was the sole survivor of the tragedy before joining her siblings.
Thus, the family lost seven of its members within a few days, in one of the most tragic incidents in the country recently.
The Public Prosecution continues its investigations to uncover the full circumstances and determine whether the poisoning was accidental or criminal.
