Egypt.. Arrest of a Suspect for Assaulting a Bride in Cairo Before Her Wedding

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior revealed details of the horrific assault on a bride days before her wedding in the Old Cairo area, which was documented in a video circulating on social media.
The ministry explained that the victim was stabbed with a sharp blade on her face by a woman residing in the Dar es Salaam area, resulting in lacerations that required 41 surgical stitches. The Interior Ministry stated that the suspect confessed to committing the act out of jealousy after learning that her ex-husband was about to marry the victim, and legal action has been taken against her.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred in the street in front of the public, while the suspect posted pictures bragging about her act on social media, which sparked public outrage. The victim confirmed that the suspect had threatened her several times before the assault, but she did not expect such an escalation.
The incident has sparked widespread anger on social media platforms, where users demanded the harshest penalties for the suspect, considering that the crime represents an assault on the psychological and social security of the victim. Human rights organizations announced their support for legal and psychological assistance for the bride, who went into shock after the incident, while her family postponed the wedding date indefinitely.
