After being excluded from the European League, Palace files appeal to court against the decision

Palace has been relegated to play in the Conference League, the third-tier competition in European club competitions, by the Financial Control Body of UEFA this month because Jean Texier, the owner of a majority stake in Olympique Lyonnais, also has a controlling stake in Crystal Palace.
Meanwhile, Lyon, competing in the French top-flight league and also qualified for the second-tier continental competition, has been allowed to compete in the European League.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport stated in a press release, "This appeal will be expedited with an executive decision without reasons by or before August 11, 2025".
Last month, Palace announced that Robert 'Woody' Johnson, a co-owner of the NFL team New York Jets, had legally agreed to purchase a share of Eagle Football Group in the club, following approval from the English Premier League.
However, Palace failed to meet the final deadline in March to comply with the multi-club ownership rules before winning the FA Cup in May, securing a place in European competitions.
If the court rejects their appeal, Nottingham Forest, finishing seventh in the Premier League, will replace Crystal Palace in the European League.
