Confirming the "necessity to expedite this process".. the European Union supports Lebanon in the file of the return of Syrian refugees

The European Union Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra Duval, expressed the bloc's support for the Lebanese position regarding the return of Syrian refugees to their country, emphasizing the "necessity to expedite this process".
This came in a statement issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following Duval's meeting with Minister Youssef Raji today, Friday, where the ambassador stressed that "the Union is accompanying the process of the return of Syrian displaced persons from Lebanon and is providing incentives to encourage their return, especially after the fall of the previous Syrian regime".
For his part, Minister Raji confirmed the "importance of intensifying the European Union's efforts in this area", stressing the "priority of providing assistance to the displaced inside Syria instead of Lebanon, in order to encourage them to return".
The number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon is approximately two million displaced persons.
