CNN reported today, Thursday, citing informed sources, that the United States has raised the level of intelligence sharing with Ukraine to include deeper targets inside Russian territory.
According to the report, Washington has given Kyiv the green light to resume attacks on energy infrastructure in Russia, in a move that reflects a shift in the nature of American support, from defense to allowing bolder offensive operations.
The sources explained that Ukraine has adopted a calculated strategy with American approval, focusing on targeting Russian energy facilities, including refineries, pipelines, and power plants, with the aim of weakening Moscow's logistical capabilities.
These developments come at a time when warnings are escalating that expanding the scope of strikes could open the door to a larger escalation in the war, while Washington insists it is seeking to balance its military support for Kyiv with avoiding direct confrontation with Russia.
