On Tuesday, the "Bloomberg" agency revealed that Ukraine and European countries have prepared a 12-point peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing war with Russia, which includes security guarantees for Kyiv and a clear path for its accession to the European Union, in a move described as the most ambitious since the start of the Russian invasion.
According to the report, the plan proposes that U.S. President Donald Trump lead what is known as the "Peace Council," an international body overseeing the implementation of the agreement's terms, ensuring the commitment of the parties involved to a ceasefire, reconstruction, and long-term security arrangements.
The main points of the plan include:
- A comprehensive ceasefire along the current contact lines
- A gradual withdrawal of Russian forces from specified areas
- The deployment of an international monitoring mission
- The release of prisoners and hostages
- Multilateral security guarantees for Ukraine
- The initiation of negotiations for Ukraine's accession to the European Union
- An international funding mechanism for reconstruction
- Involvement of the United Nations in overseeing the implementation
This initiative comes at a time when international pressure to end the war is increasing, amid signs that some parties are open to a political settlement, despite the ongoing military operations in eastern Ukraine.
