Bild, the German newspaper, reported today, Saturday, that government sources said the government will provide funds to recruit 11,000 new soldiers by the end of the year, with an increase of about 4%.

The newspaper said that funds will be provided to recruit 10,000 soldiers and appoint 1,000 civilian employees in the army by the end of 2025, noting that this step is part of this year's budget plan that will be approved by the cabinet in a few days.

The report stated that the new soldiers will be distributed among the armed forces, air force, navy, and electronic warfare.

The German Ministry of Defense did not comment on the matter.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said earlier this month that Germany needs up to 60,000 new soldiers as part of NATO's new goals for weapons and personnel, as the alliance strengthens its forces to respond to what it considers an increasing threat from Russia.
