The French star Karim Benzema revealed the real reason behind his departure from Real Madrid in the summer of 2023, confirming that despite his ability to continue playing for the royal club, he decided to embark on a new challenge in his career.
Benzema explained that he felt it was time to leave Real Madrid, indicating that he left at the peak of his performance, after winning the Ballon d'Or and leading the team. He said: "I am happy that this is my last image with the club."
Benzema signed with Al-Ittihad Saudi Club in June 2023, a contract that will run until June 30, 2026, confirming that experiencing football outside Europe was one of his goals before ending his football career.
After spending 14 years within the walls of Real Madrid, Benzema left as one of the club's legends, having achieved numerous major titles, and his name will remain engraved in the history of Los Blancos despite his departure.
