A ceremony honoring Syrian athletes who raised the flag of their country in international competitions.

The Syrian Ministry of Sports and Youth celebrated by honoring 24 outstanding athletes who achieved remarkable accomplishments in Asian and international championships during the current year, in an official ceremony held at the ministry's headquarters in Damascus.
In his speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Sports and Youth, Mr. Mohammed Hamsho, praised the champions' achievements, saying: "Athletes who raised their country's flag in international arenas, carrying Syria's name in their hearts, have proven that with determination and resolve, difficulties can be overcome and the impossible can be achieved."
He added that these champions are not only a source of pride for medals but also a "role model for an entire generation," emphasizing the ministry's commitment to providing a supportive environment for their aspirations.
The minister explained that the honoring is not only in appreciation of athletic achievements but also for "spirit, morals, and humility," pointing out that the honored athletes have combined athletic excellence with noble values.
On his part, weightlifter Qaswara Jghaily, who secured fourth place in the World Weightlifting Championship, expressed his gratitude for this honor, describing it as a "step in the right direction," and considering it a morale booster for his fellow athletes to continue training and striving for more achievements.
Meanwhile, track and field athlete Alisar Yousef, a member of the Syrian national team, emphasized the importance of this honor, stating that it "serves as a great incentive for athletes, and a positive initiative that enhances their self-confidence," contributing to driving Syrian sports forward.
