In an incident that sparked widespread outrage, the Alexandria Criminal Court sentenced football coach "A.F.G" to three years of hard labor imprisonment on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after being convicted of sexually assaulting two siblings during their training.
The details of the case, registered under number 19688 of the year 2024, date back to a report filed by a housewife accusing the coach of assaulting her two children, aged 10 and 12, during training sessions.
Investigations revealed that the accused touched sensitive parts of the children's bodies, leading the authorities to arrest and refer him to court, which issued the harsh sentence.
This incident is not the first of its kind in Egypt, as the country has witnessed a noticeable increase in harassment incidents, especially in places that are supposed to be safe, such as schools and public transportation.
Last March, a young woman, Habiba El-Shamaa, threw herself out of an Uber car after being harassed by the driver, resulting in her death.
Recently, a mathematics teacher at a school in Cairo was referred for disciplinary trial after being accused of harassing a third-grade female student.
These recurring events raise significant questions about the effectiveness of preventive and deterrent measures against these crimes, prompting society to demand more serious actions to protect children and women from these violations that threaten their security and safety.
