US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barak confirmed on Tuesday that the discussions he held in Damascus with President Ahmad Al-Shara and the leader of the "Syrian Democratic Forces" Mazloum Abdi were fruitful, resulting in an agreement on a comprehensive ceasefire.
Barak explained that Washington emphasized during the meeting the importance of adhering to the agreement of March 10, considering it a basis for continuing the political process and consolidating stability.
The US envoy added that the situation in Syria is moving in the right direction, noting that his country encourages both the Syrian government and "SDF" to make acceptable decisions that contribute to advancing the settlement process.
These statements come at a time when international and regional efforts are intensifying to support the implementation of previous agreements, ensuring the unity of Syrian territory and enhancing the chances of reaching a comprehensive settlement.
