An Afghan official revealed to "Al Jazeera" on Thursday that a government delegation will head to the Qatari capital, Doha, tomorrow, as part of diplomatic efforts to discuss the extension of the ceasefire with Pakistan.
The source explained that the delegation's agenda will also include discussions on outstanding issues between Kabul and Islamabad, in an attempt to ease the rising tensions along the border between the two countries in recent weeks.
This move comes after preliminary agreements on a temporary ceasefire, amid regional and international pressures to solidify the truce and prevent the situation from slipping into open confrontation.
