Drone targets vehicle near Aleppo airport.. conflicting reports on the number of casualties and the identity of the perpetrator

A drone targeted a civilian vehicle today, Thursday (September 4, 2025), on a road leading to Aleppo International Airport in northern Syria, resulting in casualties, amid conflicting figures and the executing party.

The Syrian Ministry of Health announced through the SANA agency that the attack resulted in one death, while the French Press Agency quoted an official from the internal security forces in Aleppo stating that the strike claimed the lives of two people inside the vehicle.

For its part, local sources informed the German news agency (dpa) that the drone "is likely to belong to the international coalition against ISIS," without official confirmation.

SANA did not disclose the identity of the drone or the targeted individuals, while security sources confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the victims.

The attack comes at a time when the new Syrian administration is intensifying its efforts to maintain security following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024.
