Launch of the Syrian Development Fund in Damascus in the presence of President Ahmad al-Shara

This evening, the activities of the Syrian Development Fund were launched at the Citadel of Damascus in the presence of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara, in a step aimed at supporting reconstruction efforts in the country after years of destruction.
During the ceremony, Mohammed Safwat Abdul Hamid Ruslan, Director General of the Fund, said: "We meet today to witness an unprecedented national launch, where national will blends with ambition, making the Development Fund a compass for the reconstruction of our homeland in honor of the sacrifices of our martyrs."
Ruslan explained that the fund seeks to unify the efforts of the state, civil society, the private sector, and the people of Syria both inside and outside the country, with a focus on transparency in resource management, creating job opportunities, and service and economic projects in all provinces, cities, and villages.
He pointed out that the fund, which was established under Decree No. 112 of 2025, has legal personality and financial and administrative independence, with its headquarters in Damascus and linked to the Presidency of the Republic. It aims to finance reconstruction and infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water and electricity networks, airports, ports, and communication networks, through good loan programs and various financial contributions.
Ruslan added: "With your support, the fund will become a symbol of transparency and stability and a driver of growth, and we will all extend our hands to make this fund a unifying national force."
Funding sources include individual donations from inside and outside Syria, monthly subscriptions through the permanent donor program, in addition to grants and aid received by the fund in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
