In an important diplomatic move, the U.S. State Department announced that Secretary Marco Rubio had a phone call with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, reaffirming Washington's position rejecting the recent Iranian attacks on Saudi territory.

The U.S. State Department stated that Rubio condemned these disgraceful Iranian attacks, affirming the United States' full support for Saudi Arabia in facing any threat to its security and sovereignty.

For its part, Saudi Arabia confirmed its full right to take all necessary measures to protect its security and territorial integrity and to deter any aggression, emphasizing its strong condemnation of the Iranian assaults on the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as well as several Arab, Islamic, and friendly nations.

Riyadh also affirmed that these attacks represent a blatant violation of international charters and international law, posing a direct threat to regional and international security and stability, especially with the targeting of civilian sites, airports, and vital oil facilities.

These developments come at a time of escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran, amid U.S. reports of Iran deploying naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz, increasing risks to maritime security and global energy.
