In a surprise that sparked wide controversy, a music band called "The Velvet Sun Down" managed to attract over half a million listeners on the "Spotify" platform in just a few weeks, only to later reveal that it is not a real band at all, but a complete production of artificial intelligence!
The band, which suddenly appeared this month, released two albums titled "Floating On Echoes" and "Dust and Silence" in less than a month, with promises of a third album in the next two weeks.
The songs carry a classic rock vibe, with loud musical harmony and sound effects that add a dramatic touch, making them smoothly blend into popular playlists on the platform.
However, upon repeated listening, the mystery begins to unfold, as the music lacks the human spirit that distinguishes true artistic works.
The band's profile mentions the names of four members, yet searching for them outside of "The Velvet Sun Down" accounts or albums does not show any real existence, leading some users on "Reddit" and "X" platforms to doubt the band's credibility.
Upon creating an official account on "Instagram" on June 27, the picture became clear;
where the band members appeared in photos that seem to be generated by artificial intelligence tools, with perfect unrealistic faces, random and illogical food and drink arrangements, settling the debate.
This is not the only case, as another music band called "The Devil Inside" was previously highlighted, producing ten complete albums using artificial intelligence within two years.
Interestingly, both bands share themes like dust and winds, suggesting that they may have originated from a single model for generating songs.
The "Spotify" platform currently does not require disclosure of the source of songs and whether they are produced by humans or machines, making it easier for such projects to reach a wide audience without any scrutiny.
On the other hand, platforms like "Deezer" follow a more transparent policy, where a disclaimer is attached to the band's profile indicating that "some songs may have been produced using artificial intelligence".
The band's "Instagram" account is now filled with comments criticizing the use of artificial intelligence and calling for more transparency in the digital music world, yet the spread of this type of content may become more complex with the advancement of technologies and the difficulty in distinguishing between human and artificial creativity.
