The Syrian Artists Syndicate announced during a press conference held at its headquarters, after four days of renovating the council, its upcoming phased plan in the presence of the president, vice president, and most members of the syndicate. The syndicate confirmed granting honorary membership to the late director Basil Shahada, and working on transferring the remains of the late actresses May Skaf and Fadwa Suleiman to Syria, in consultation and coordination with their families. It also emphasized the serious follow-up to uncover the fate of the revolution martyrs among the artists, honoring them, and providing support to their families. In a move aimed at updating the union's work, the syndicate revealed the formation of a legal committee of specialized experts to amend laws and regulations, paving the way for fair elections to elect a president and board of directors in accordance with the new laws. Branch councils will be tasked with communicating with all members to gather their opinions and ideas, which will form the basis of the legal committee's work. The plan included professional accreditation for various categories of artists, including musicians and actors, with a study on accrediting screenwriters and graduates of theater studies. The syndicate will also conduct a survey of cases where members have been subjected to injustice, and will provide a study to establish exceptional accreditation for artists over the age of forty, and solve the problems of academic directors who graduated outside of Syria. The syndicate announced its readiness to prepare a central celebration on the anniversary of the Syrian revolution for the coming year, to honor the artists who stood by the people against tyranny, and to honor prominent artistic figures. It also plans to hold a music festival including musical nights in tribute to the revolution martyrs and Syrian artists, and a theater arts festival with the participation of various theater groups and ensembles. Suggestions will be made to the Ministries of Culture and Information to name theater halls after the revolution martyrs among the artists. In support of young artists, the syndicate will launch an open and sustainable workshop in various artistic disciplines to empower and support them, and benefit from their ideas in developing the artistic movement, while providing job opportunities and supported training courses with commercial sponsorship and symbolic subscriptions. Finally, the syndicate pledged to raise the ceiling of health insurance, medical care, and retirement pensions to the maximum extent possible and as soon as possible.
