The United States has renewed its condemnation of the terrorist bombing that targeted the Mar Elias Church in the Dweila neighborhood of Damascus, expressing its support for the Syrian government in combating terrorism.
The spokesperson for the US State Department, Tammy Bruce, said in a press conference last night: "The United States supports the Syrian government in fighting forces seeking to undermine stability and spread an atmosphere of fear in Syria and the region."
Bruce reiterated today the US commitment to supporting Syria in confronting terrorist groups, noting Washington's lifting of many sanctions to facilitate support for the Syrian government in enhancing its capabilities to combat terrorism, within the framework of international efforts to ensure the stability of Syria and the region.
The US Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, expressed his country's strong condemnation of the terrorist attack yesterday, affirming that this cowardly act will not affect the diversity of the Syrian identity or the unity of the Syrian people.
