In a sharp stance towards European policies, U.S. President Donald Trump today, Thursday, urged European leaders to immediately stop buying Russian oil, considering that these purchases directly contribute to funding the war that Moscow is waging on Ukraine, according to a White House official.

Trump's remarks came during his participation in the "Alliance of the Willing" meeting, led by French President Emmanuel Macron, which includes a group of countries supporting Ukraine in the face of the Russian invasion.

Trump confirmed that Russia received about 1.1 billion euros from the European Union in one year from fuel sales, which he described as "indirect funding for the war".

The U.S. president also emphasized the need for European leaders to exert economic pressure on China, accusing Beijing of contributing to supporting Russian war efforts, referring to the growing trade and technological relations between the two countries.

These remarks come at a time when Western calls to tighten sanctions on Moscow are increasing, and there is a push to expand international coordination to stop sources of war funding, amid differing European positions on Russian energy and relations with China.
