The Lebanese government adopts the army's plan to control weapons with regional conditions and restrictions

Lebanese Minister of Information Paul Marqus announced that the Cabinet approved the army's plan aimed at controlling weapons within the country, emphasizing that the council's discussions regarding it will remain confidential.
Marqus clarified that the implementation of what is included in the "American paper" remains contingent upon the approval of the concerned parties, especially Syria and Israel, noting that any progress in this context remains dependent on Israel's responsiveness, which has not yet shown a clear commitment.
He added that the Lebanese army will begin to implement its plan within its modest capabilities and in light of the existing challenges, foremost among them the Israeli assaults, stressing that the military institution will retain the right to assess the field situation, which may require additional time for implementation.
He also pointed out that the Cabinet has tasked the army commander with submitting a monthly report to the government on the course of implementing the weapons control plan and its stages of progress.
