United Nations: Rapid Support Forces Committed Crimes Against Humanity During the Siege of El Fasher

Highlights from the report:
- Systematic killings, sexual violence, and gender-based persecution
- Widespread destruction of livelihoods and looting of civilian property
- Use of starvation as a weapon of war, by preventing access to food and medicine
- Some violations described as rising to the level of genocide
The head of the mission, Mohamed Shandi Othman, confirmed that the report was based on more than 200 interviews, including direct testimonies from survivors, as well as video footage and reports from civil organizations. The report, titled "War of Atrocities," reinforces previous findings regarding the violations committed by both parties to the conflict: the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese army.
This report comes amid the ongoing civil war that erupted in April 2023, following disputes between the two sides over the integration of forces, leading to the disintegration of authority and escalating violence in wide areas of the country.
