General and Sharia Secondary Exams Kick Off in Syria with Over 344,000 Students Participating

Today, Saturday, July 12, the general secondary certificate exams for the "scientific" and "literary" branches began, in addition to the Sharia secondary exams for the 2025 session, with the participation of 344,582 male and female students distributed across 1,582 exam centers in various Syrian provinces.
Mahmoud Haboub, the Director General of Exams at the Syrian Ministry of Education, confirmed to SANA that the number of students applying for the scientific branch reached 218,273, while the number of literary branch students reached 124,155. The number of students applying for the Sharia secondary exams reached 2,154, indicating that these numbers "reflect the youth's interest in education and their keenness to succeed in their academic journey."
Haboub added that the ministry "has completed its preparations, provided everything necessary to ensure the success and control of the exam process," explaining that exam centers have been prepared and logistical requirements secured to ensure the exams run "smoothly, providing a suitable and safe environment for the students."
The exams are scheduled to continue until July 31 for the literary branch, August 3 for the scientific branch, while the Sharia secondary exams will end on August 4.
It is worth mentioning that over 398,000 male and female students had completed the basic education certificate exams (general and Sharia) and vocational secondary exams in all branches by July 10.
