Israeli Chief of Staff Criticizes the Cabinet: Where Were You on the Day Hamas Defeated Us?

Leaks from an Israeli government meeting regarding the next phase of operations in Gaza revealed a sharp criticism directed by Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir towards the ministers for their focus on the idea of "defeating Hamas".
The Times of Israel reported Zamir saying during the meeting:
> "Good morning. You are the government of October 7th. Only now do you remember the talk about defeating Hamas. Where were you on the seventh? The eighth? The ninth? After two years, you remember."
He added: "When I took this position, Gaza was not defeated. Today, Gaza is 70% defeated."
The report indicated that Zamir and other security officials oppose plans for complete military control over Gaza, instead advocating for an agreement to release hostages and a phased ceasefire, considering this strategy more feasible in the current situation.
