The European Union Prepares a Plan to Urge Trump to Support the Two-State Solution and Not Undermine the Future of the Palestinian State

The newspaper "Politico" revealed on Friday a draft of a new European plan through which EU countries seek to influence the American position regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

According to leaks, the European document calls for urging U.S. President Donald Trump to ensure that the future of the Palestinian state is not undermined, at a time when fears are growing that Israeli policies on the ground could weaken the chances for a political solution.

The draft, which is being circulated among European capitals, emphasizes the need to promote a positive narrative regarding the two-state solution as the most internationally accepted framework for ending the conflict.

It also stresses that the European Union will work to increase pressure on Israeli settlers who continue to annex land in the West Bank, which Brussels considers a major obstacle to any fair settlement.
