European Union Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Gaza Strip

Following a discussion on the Middle East in Brussels, the leaders said: "The European Council calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and the unconditional release of all hostages, leading to a permanent cessation of hostilities".
The European External Action Service stated last week that there are indications that Israel has violated its human rights obligations under the terms of the agreement regulating its relations with the European Union.
The bloc leaders said: "The European Council is aware of the report on Israel's compliance with Article 2 of the Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Israel, and we call on the Council to continue discussions on monitoring the matter, as necessary, in July 2025, taking into account developments on the ground".
