The Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed today, Friday, that the continuous Israeli airstrikes in the past 24 hours have resulted in the death of around 90 people.
This comes as the Israeli army continues its wide-scale destruction campaigns targeting residential homes in the northern part of the region, specifically in Beit Lahia, Sultan Yacoub, and Sudanese areas.
Trucks carrying humanitarian aid were targeted by Israeli shelling on Salah al-Din Street near the entrance of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, resulting in the death of six Palestinians working on securing these trucks, and injuring others.
In the north and south of the region, civil defense managed to retrieve the bodies of four victims from under the rubble of a house in Jabalia town in northern Gaza, while the bodies of two children were recovered from their apartment hit by an airstrike in Khan Yunis in the south of the region.
Additionally, three Palestinians were reported killed in a helicopter attack on a residential apartment on Jalaa Street in central Gaza City.
In an official response, the Gaza government's media office condemned the Israeli shelling on the aid convoy security personnel on Salah al-Din Street, urging the international community to intervene urgently to stop these violations targeting relief workers.
At Al-Awda Hospital, the medical staff reported continuous gunfire from the besieging Israeli tanks, amidst urgent appeals to compel Israel to halt the shelling and enable the hospital to provide medical services to the besieged wounded.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization announced yesterday that the healthcare system in Gaza is on the brink of collapse, due to the continued strict Israeli blockade and the shortage of medical supplies, exacerbating the suffering of the population amid mass displacement in several areas.
Out of 36 hospitals in the region, only 19 are operational, with 94% of them suffering major damage or complete destruction, making the provision of basic healthcare services nearly impossible.
It is worth noting that the blockade imposed since the collapse of the ceasefire with Hamas in March has worsened the humanitarian situation, with UN warnings of famine and the lack of basic necessities in the region.
