Tehran: Attempt to Assassinate Araghchi Thwarted

Simultaneous with the announcement by European diplomats that "the foreign ministers of France, Germany, Britain, and Kallas plan to meet with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi for nuclear talks in Geneva on Friday," Iranian media reported that Mohammad Hossein Rangchi, advisor to the Iranian Foreign Minister, revealed the thwarting of a "major conspiracy planned by Israel to target Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in the capital Tehran," confirming that "the conspiracy failed thanks to the precise security measures carried out by intelligence forces."
The Tasnim News Agency reported that Rangchi stated on the "X" platform, "Talk of the foreign minister's visit to Geneva to negotiate with the European Troika raised concerns about the possibility of being targeted by Israel, indicating that the threat was real and serious."
He added: "Mr. Abbas Araghchi does not see himself as just a diplomat, but considers himself a soldier in the service of the country, and following in the footsteps of the martyr Qassem Soleimani, he seeks martyrdom."
