A video clip that spread like wildfire has sparked outrage among social and governmental circles in Syria, as it showed a man brutally torturing his underage nephew in a manner that violates the child's rights. Government and security authorities in Syria swiftly moved to rescue the abused boy from his uncle, who was subsequently arrested and detained. The child was seen receiving necessary treatment and care at the hospital. Minister of Social Affairs, Hind Kabawat, emphasized that protecting children from all forms of violence and abuse is not just a legal duty, but a humanitarian and ethical responsibility that falls on everyone. Minister Kabawat reiterated the ministry's commitment to combating violence, holding perpetrators accountable through necessary legislation, and developing mechanisms to protect children in coordination with local and international partners to ensure a safe environment that preserves their dignity and nurtures their capabilities. She also mentioned the importance of enhancing awareness programs, psychological and social support, and launching initiatives involving families and communities in child protection and well-being. Minister Kabawat highlighted that children are Syria's true wealth and emphasized that they will not have a secure future unless they are provided with the safety, respect, and care they deserve. She expressed gratitude to the Governor of Hama and the Ministry of Interior for their rapid response to the child abuse incident that circulated on social media, and the ministry's support in taking necessary measures to protect the child.
