French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Broto said today, Monday, that the French consulate acted immediately following the arrest of French activists aboard the ship Madeleine. Broto stated in an official statement: "Our consulate immediately requested to visit the French citizens who were arrested aboard the fleet, in order to check on them and facilitate their quick return to France." The minister also emphasized the urgent need to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza, saying: "We call on Israel to allow humanitarian aid to reach Gaza immediately and without delay." In a related context, the French news agency quoted sources at the Elysee Palace as saying that French President Emmanuel Macron demanded Israeli authorities to enable the French activists to return to their country "immediately" after Israeli forces intercepted the Madeleine boat during its humanitarian journey to Gaza.
