Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Nidal Shalab, confirmed that the administrative restructuring of the ministry following the presidential decision to merge three existing ministries establishes integration for the economic process. Minister Shalab stated on his Facebook account today, Friday: "The merger process enables addressing the requirements of the upcoming economic revival, which we strive to launch effectively and efficiently." Minister Shalab explained that the physical and field merger process will begin next week, ensuring no disruption to work or citizens. The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry announced on April 22 its merger from three ministries: Industry, Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, and Economy and Foreign Trade. It outlined the formation of three general directorates under the ministry to replace the previous ministries, including the General Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, another for the economy, and a third for industry.
