Syrian Minister of Economy and Swedish Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Economic Cooperation and Reconstruction

Syrian Minister of Economy and Industry, Dr. Mohammad Nidal Al-Shaar, met today, Wednesday, July 9, with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Swedish Embassy in Damascus, Jessica Svärdström, to discuss ways to develop bilateral relations and increase cooperation in economic and developmental fields.
During the meeting held at the ministry's headquarters, mechanisms to boost trade and investment exchange between the two countries were discussed, with both sides emphasizing "the importance of Swedish companies' contribution to Syrian development projects, especially in vital sectors related to reconstruction and infrastructure improvement."
The discussion also touched on the necessity of "creating a stimulating economic environment that accelerates the return of Syrians from abroad by providing job opportunities and supporting social stability through sustainable development."
Minister Al-Shaar highlighted "Syria's openness to all international initiatives supporting economic development," stressing the importance of "building balanced partnerships with countries interested in genuine and effective cooperation."
On her part, Svärdström expressed "Sweden's interest in exploring economic cooperation opportunities with Syria," affirming that her country "views positively any practical steps that enhance stability and development in Syria, whether through the public or private sector."
