The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement commenting on the historic meeting that brought together the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the U.S. President Donald Trump, with the presence of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan via video technology, and the foreign ministers of the concerned countries.

The statement emphasized the necessity of lifting the economic sanctions on Syria as a crucial step towards the country's recovery and reconstruction.

It mentioned that the Saudi Crown Prince stressed that "lifting the sanctions is a fundamental pillar for achieving regional stability," while President Trump expressed "the commitment of the United States to support Syria in this critical phase."

The statement quoted the Syrian President saying: "We appreciate the regional and international support for Syria, and we will work to enhance opportunities for building a secure and stable future," confirming his country's commitment to "implementing its development projects despite all challenges."

The Syrian Foreign Ministry also highlighted that the meeting discussed enhancing cooperation with Washington in combating terrorism, especially in confronting organizations like ISIS, in addition to coordinating security efforts to ensure regional stability.

The statement concluded by affirming that this meeting "paves the way for a new phase of understanding and cooperation," indicating that the Syrian Foreign Minister will soon meet his American counterpart Marco Rubio to follow up on the details of the agreements and coordination reached during the summit.
