Saudi Arabia and Qatar announced in a joint statement today, Saturday, providing common financial support for public sector workers in Syria for a period of three months.

The joint statement stated that "the financial support comes as a continuation of the two countries' efforts to support and accelerate the pace of Syria's economic recovery, and as an extension of previous support in repaying Syria's arrears to the World Bank Group, which amounted to approximately (15) million dollars."

The statement added: "This support is part of the two countries' keenness to support the stability of Syria, alleviate humanitarian suffering, and enhance the interests of the people based on the fraternal ties and historical relations that unite the peoples of the three countries."

The statement also emphasized that the support reflects the two countries' steadfast commitment to supporting development efforts, enhancing economic and social stability, and contributing to improving the living conditions of the Syrian people.

According to the statement, the countries look forward to coordinating efforts with the international community in general and development partners from regional and international organizations in particular within a clear and comprehensive vision that contributes to achieving effective and sustainable support and enhancing development opportunities for the Syrian people.
