Syrian Artists Syndicate President to Yakhour: The Syrian people are kind and will forgive you if you apologize.

Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the Syrian artist Bassel Yakhour's supportive stance towards the Assad regime, Mazen Al-Natour, the head of Syrian artists, directly addressed him, urging him to reconsider his positions and apologize to the Syrian people.
Al-Natour, during his appearance on the show "Sho Al-Qissah" with the Lebanese media personality Rabia Al-Zayat, emphasized that "Syria accommodates all its sons," pointing out that "the Syrian people are kind and will forgive Yakhour if he apologizes."
Al-Natour added: "He can return to his country without harm, as the doors are open to anyone who reflects on themselves and chooses to stand with the people."
Al-Natour also shared his personal suffering during the war, having lost 17 family members and buried his parents in Jordan away from their homeland. He expressed gratitude to the Jordanian people who stood by him in his ordeal, affirming that "a homeland is not measured by interests, but by loyalty and belonging."
He addressed Yakhour saying: "Reconsider your thoughts, there are people in Syria who love you, and if you return, no one will harm you... The wrongdoer can apologize, and the Syrian people will be forgiving."
Al-Natour also stressed that Syria "does not belong to one group, but is a homeland for all, and those who err must bear responsibility for their positions."
It is worth noting that Yakhour still holds onto his supportive positions towards the former regime, despite its fall and Bashar Al-Assad's escape to Moscow in late 2024, leaving behind a legacy of destruction and a difficult political and social situation.
