The Syrian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, today, Monday, discussed with the Acting Chargé d'Affaires at the Yemeni Embassy in Damascus, Dr. Mohammad Ezzie Bakr, the development of scientific cooperation through cultural exchange, scholarships, and activating previous agreements.

Minister Al-Halabi considered the resumption of relations between the two countries as the beginning of a roadmap for cultural and scientific exchange between them, emphasizing the need for the Yemeni side to identify the needs for scholarships and Syrian academic staff that can be sent to work in Yemen under external loan contracts and specific conditions.

The Minister Al-Halabi also emphasized the importance of activating old agreements between the two countries after the recent changes, and preparing a scientific memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the two ministries, pointing out that granting scholarships to Yemeni students is done according to the university admission policy and an agreement between the two parties, and the possibility of exchanging experiences in rare medical specialties, and forming a communication team from both sides to follow up on the work steps and prepare the memorandum of understanding.

In turn, Dr. Bakr emphasized the importance of enhancing scientific cooperation between the two countries after its decline due to the suspension of embassy work, indicating Yemen's need for Syrian academic teachers to teach in government universities, especially in the field of dentistry and scientific fields, and the possibility of providing scholarships for Yemeni students and allocating them to seats in the field of dentistry.
