Fiorentina's striker, Moise Kean, was taken to the hospital after suffering a blow to the head. The Italian continued playing before collapsing on the field in front of Hellas Verona in the Italian Serie A today, Sunday.
Kean was hit in the head while trying to retrieve the ball, falling to the ground after receiving a blow to the face from Pawel Dawidowicz's knee.
Kean received treatment and was allowed to return to play. However, he suddenly lost his balance and fell to the ground, prompting both teams' medical staff to rush to the field.
The striker, who is second in the Serie A top scorers list this season with 15 goals, left the field wearing a neck brace before being taken to the hospital.
The club stated in a release, "Fiorentina announces that Moise Kean suffered a head injury during the match against Verona. He is in the hospital for examinations."
Fiorentina lost 1-0.
This was the second serious injury for Fiorentina this season after midfielder Eduardo Boaventura collapsed on the field against Inter Milan in December, leading to the match being canceled.
Boaventura underwent successful surgery to implant a removable heart rate regulating device to prevent heart crises.
