The Anti-Narcotics Department of the Syrian Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Drug Control of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, carried out a qualitative operation today, Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of several suspects involved in drug trafficking and distribution in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo, and the seizure of over 200,000 "Captagon" pills in their possession.
The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated on its Telegram channel: "A new qualitative operation was conducted as a result of information exchange between the Syrian Ministry of Interior and the Saudi Ministry of Interior, through which the Anti-Narcotics Department managed to seize about 200,000 narcotic pills hidden inside industrial equipment in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo, in an attempt to smuggle them across the borders. The apprehended individuals were referred to the competent judiciary to take necessary legal actions against them".
The Ministry quoted the Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, Colonel Khaled Eid, as saying: "Within the framework of the existing cooperation and joint coordination between Arab countries, and as part of the ongoing efforts to pursue drug traffickers and distributors and to curb the spread of this dangerous scourge, the Anti-Narcotics Department carried out a new qualitative operation".
Eid added: "This operation was the result of precise intelligence exchange between the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Syrian Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate for Drug Control of the Saudi Ministry of Interior, where we conducted a well-planned security operation after selecting the appropriate time and place".
He mentioned that the operation led to the arrest of several suspects involved in drug trafficking and distribution in the provinces of Idlib and Aleppo, and the seizure of over 200,000 narcotic "Captagon" pills hidden inside industrial equipment in preparation for smuggling them across the borders. The detainees were referred to the competent judiciary to take necessary legal actions against them.
