Russian Foreign Ministry: Moscow will summon the German ambassador to inform him of the response to "harassment of Russian journalists"

The clash between Russia and Germany over this issue has been ongoing. Moscow expelled a German correspondent and photographer last November, describing it as a reciprocal response to German actions against journalists from Russian state television.
Germany stated that the departure of the Russians was related to residency rules, indicating that Russian journalists are free to work in the country.
Zakharova stated that Germany is exerting unjustified "pressure and harassment" on Russian journalists and their families. Zakharova has previously mentioned revoking travel documents and imposing restrictions on journalists' freedom of movement.
Russia still relies on Western correspondents, but many have left the country after Moscow launched its full-scale war on Ukraine in 2022, followed by the enactment of new censorship laws and the arrest of American journalist Ivan Gershkovitch in 2023 on espionage charges.
Gershkovitch denied the charges, and Moscow released him as part of a prisoner exchange agreement last year.
