Russia targets Sloviansk with drones and shoots down 85 Ukrainian drones

The Russian forces launched a new attack this morning, Sunday, targeting the city of Sloviansk located in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, using two drones of the type "Giran_2", which resulted in material damage to several residential and industrial buildings, without any human casualties.
Vadim Lyakh, the head of the military administration in the city, confirmed through a post on his Facebook page that one of the drones hit a three-story residential building on Torska Street, causing severe damage to the infrastructure, and nearby high-rise buildings were also affected by the explosion.
The second drone targeted an industrial area on the outskirts of the city.
Lyakh explained that no human losses were recorded as a result of the bombing, according to what was reported by the official Ukrainian news agency (Ukrinform).
* Russian Defense: 85 Ukrainian drones shot down
In a parallel development, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the destruction of a total of 85 Ukrainian drones within less than 24 hours, through interception operations carried out by Russian air defense systems over several areas within Russia, as well as over the waters of the Sea of Azov.
The ministry clarified in an official statement issued on Sunday morning that the air defense systems shot down five Ukrainian drones between 8:00 and 8:30 AM Moscow time, including:
3 drones over Kursk Oblast
1 over Ryazan Oblast
1 over Nizhny Novgorod Oblast
* 80 drones destroyed overnight
Earlier on the same day, the ministry revealed that it thwarted a large-scale air attack carried out by Ukraine on Saturday/Sunday night, where 80 drones targeting various areas were shot down, with the distribution as follows:
30 drones over Bryansk Oblast
15 drones over the Crimean Peninsula
12 drones over Smolensk Oblast
10 drones over Kaluga Oblast
5 drones over Novgorod Oblast
3 drones over the waters of the Sea of Azov
2 drones over Leningrad Oblast
1 drone in each of the Oblasts: Oryol, Ryazan, and Rostov
* Ongoing escalation .. and a warning of "expanding the war"
This military escalation comes at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Russia is seeking to "expand the scope of the war", referring to the attacks that have recently targeted areas near Poland and Romania, raising Western concerns about the widening of the conflict.
