The Ministry of Higher Education stated on its official website that the project included updating the infrastructure, equipping the department with the latest medical devices, and increasing the capacity to accommodate a larger number of patients, especially from northern and remote areas, to expedite treatment and reduce waiting times.

According to the Ministry, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi emphasized that Al-Biruni Hospital is a national cornerstone in cancer treatment, highlighting that the project embodies an advanced model of collaboration between the government and charitable associations, representing a significant step towards developing the infrastructure of university hospitals and enhancing their educational and therapeutic roles.

The Minister added: "The work was carried out efficiently without affecting the provision of medical services, and the outcomes were outstanding, confirming the efficiency of the staff and the systematic planning of the work."

He also indicated that the Ministry's future strategy aims to link scientific research with societal needs, and enhance cooperation with the private sector and civil society in ways that positively impact the improvement of medical performance.

Minister Al-Halabi also noted that the Ministry's plan is geared towards horizontally expanding medical services, especially specialized services in the field of oncology characterized by the availability of distinguished scientific expertise in oncology across all hospitals, aiming to expand these services to reach every citizen fairly, which is one of the government's fundamental visions.

Health Minister Dr. Musab Al-Ali, in turn, expressed his appreciation for this achievement, affirming that rehabilitating the department and increasing its capacity is part of a comprehensive governmental approach to provide equitable and comprehensive healthcare services for cancer patients.

He explained that cancer not only affects the body but also extends its impact to the psychological well-being of the patient and their family, stating, "As a government, we work as one team to provide an integrated system of support and care."

The Minister revealed plans to open a new cancer center in Aleppo Governorate, in addition to future projects to expand oncology services in several governorates, praising the role of the 'Hope' Association in supporting this project and achieving its humanitarian goals.
